DIANE NÍ CHANAINN
Diane, a versatile singer-musician rooted in the traditional Donegal Seannós style, released her acclaimed debut album in 2018. Currently collaborating with the Ulster Orchestra and producers Donal O’Connor and Steve Cooney, her much-anticipated album is set to launch in late 2024, with the single ‘Amhrán Pheadar Breatnach’ already earning praise.
Beyond her musical endeavours, Diane has engaged in a three-year collaboration with renowned dance choreographer Akiko Kitamura on ‘Echoes of Calling,’ performed in Ireland, Japan, and soon in Tokyo. In 2020, she founded ‘IrishSongLessons.com,’ offering Gaelige song tutorials globally, alongside the successful tourism venture ‘DonegalMusicTrails,’ featuring cultural boat and bus trips in the Donegal Gaeltacht with her music at the core.
A fixture on radio programs like Raidió na Gaeltachta and Highland Radio, Diane has also contributed to TV documentaries on RTÉ, BBC, and Scottish BBC Radio. With a background in event management, she has organized numerous local and county music festivals. Diane currently relishes her success as a touring artist, captivating audiences across Europe, Asia, and the USA.
In recent years, Diane immersed herself in Scotland, engaging in collaborations with fellow Gaelic singers. She recently embarked on a tour of Scotland and Ireland alongside acclaimed artists Mairì MacMillan, Mike Vass, and Mhairì Hall – all internationally recognized Scottish talents. Diane looks forward to further collaborations with Scotland’s vibrant music scene, with exciting recording projects in the pipeline for the upcoming year.
